GTA 6's Game Informer Cover Story Confirms a Map Twice the Size of GTA 5 - And Over 170 Animal Species
Fourteen pages, twelve screenshots, and a whole ecosystem. Rockstar just confirmed Leonida has more wildlife than most actual nature documentaries.
Game Informer's 14-page Grand Theft Auto VI cover story went live September 29, 2026, confirming the game's map is approximately twice the size of Grand Theft Auto V's, according to Rockstar art director Aaron Garbut. The issue, built on interviews with Rockstar's lead designers, details six named regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. The cover story also confirms a re-engineered, localized weather system capable of producing tropical storms and hurricanes, and more than 170 animal species across land, air, and sea, including manatees, flamingos, alligators, and multiple shark species, some tagged by rarity, ahead of the game's November 19, 2026 release.
