Sony Ships PS5 Update 26.07 Ahead of GTA 6 - and a Rumor Says the Game Needs It

Sony patches the PS5 just in time for GTA 6. Coincidence is a strong word.

Sony released PS5 system update 26.07 (14.22.00.00) with security fixes, though it has not said exactly what it fixes. A researcher reported running his own code on the previous firmware within hours of that firmware's release.

Separately, the PlayStation Game Size account on X claims GTA 6 may require system software 14.22.00.00 or later. That claim is a rumor: Rockstar and Sony have not confirmed a firmware requirement. Updating your console before pre-load is a sensible move either way.
